Nonprofit director, county housing commissioner and longtime community organizer Tracy La is running to represent Trustee Area 4 of the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education and put students, educators and working families at the center of the district’s future. Tracy La has secured key endorsements from the Garden Grove Education Association (GGEA), the Classified School Employees Association (CSEA) Chapter 121, and a large coalition of local elected officials.
“This campaign is about building a school district that takes care of our families and gives every student the opportunity to succeed,” Tracy La said. “I’m proud that our campaign is bringing together educators, parents, young people and immigrant communities across generations and backgrounds who believe our public schools should meet the needs of the families they serve.“
GGEA represents about 2,000 teachers, nurses, and librarians at Garden Grove Unified schools. Recognizing that Tracy La is a dedicated fighter for our public schools, the union issued an early endorsement to support La’s campaign for GGUSD Trustee Area 4.
Tracy La also earned the endorsement of the Classified School Employees Association (CSEA) Chapter 121, which represents 3,000 Garden Grove Unified classified staff.
Tracy La’s campaign has strong support from education leaders across the county, including Garden Grove Unified School District Trustee Walter Muñeton, Santa Ana Unified School District President Katelyn Brazer-Aceves, Santa Ana Unified School District Trustee Dr. Alfonso Alvarez, Anaheim Elementary School District Trustee Julie Diep, Anaheim Union High School District Trustee Dr. Jose Paolo Magcalas, and Ocean View School District President Gina Clayton-Tarvin.
Tracy La is also endorsed by Democratic county and city leaders including Orange County Supervisor Vicente Sarmiento, Garden Grove City Council Member Yesenia Muñeton, Santa Ana City Council Member Thai Viet Phan, Santa Ana City Council Member Benjamin Vazquez, Santa Ana City Council Member Johnathan Hernandez, Costa Mesa Mayor Pro Tem Manuel Chavez, and Stanton City Councilmember Donald Torres.
