About Tracy
Tracy La is a nonprofit director and county commissioner running for Garden Grove Unified School District Trustee Area 4 to ensure every student, teacher, and staff member in our schools feels supported and prepared to succeed.
For Tracy, quality public education is personal. Tracy is the proud product of public schools and was the first in her family to go to college, which gave her the skills to build a nonprofit from the ground up and propel her career in public service.
As a Santa Ana resident, nonprofit director, and county commissioner, Tracy works every day with Garden Grove Unified students and families across Trustee Area 4 – including those in Garden Grove, West Santa Ana, Westminster, and Fountain Valley. Tracy is dedicated to fighting for accessible and excellent public education, whether that’s by investing in improved classrooms and facilities, expanding student resources, or promoting responsibility in district governance.
In her role as a nonprofit director of VietRISE, Tracy led the development of an educational program for Little Saigon youth and oversaw training for dozens of staff members across her organization. Tracy has also spearheaded key efforts to support working families — including the passage of the Santa Ana rent stabilization ordinance, which was achieved by organizing with Vietnamese senior mobile home residents.
Tracy serves on the Orange County Housing & Community Development Commission and previously served as Chair of the Santa Ana Rental Housing Board. She also contributed to the development of the OC Vietnamese Community Census Complete Count Committee and the OC Immigrant & Refugee Liberty Fund, a county-level legal empowerment initiative for which she currently serves as the advisory council’s chair. Additionally, Tracy previously served as a member of the City of Westminster Little Saigon Blueprint for Investment Advisory Committee and the OC Registrar of Voters Language Accessibility Advisory Committee.
Tracy earned a dual B.A. in Political Science and Social Policy & Public Service from UC Irvine, where she served as student government president. Before VietRISE, she led grassroots campaigns to register thousands of young people and immigrants in OC to vote and advocated for immigrant rights at the national and local level.
